Moringa Leaf Trees Background
Moringa – also known as the drumstick tree or the horseradish tree – is a fast-growing tree native to the southern foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India. Moringa can grow to 40ft, with an open crown of fragile branches and fragrant, yellow-white flowers.
The fruit is a hanging capsule containing dark-brown seeds with papery, whitish wings. Moringa is a versatile and nutritious food source throughout the year. The fruit or seedpods, known as drumsticks, are used in various dishes, including the Indian sambar, stewed with lentils, and the Thai dish Kaeng som, a sour curry with fish.
In parts of India, the flowers are mixed with gram flour and spices before being deep-fried into pakoras. Traditional well-being philosophies have used all aspects of the moringa tree for centuries, including the tree’s sap, roots, leaves and flowers. It is such a rich food source that it is being used in Africa to fight malnutrition.
How To Enjoy Moringa Leaf Powder
