Organic Ayurvedic Roots Tea — Ginger, Turmeric and Ashwagandha
A bespoke blend we conceived, formulated, and make entirely in-house: organic ginger root, organic turmeric root, and organic ashwagandha root — three of Ayurveda’s most celebrated botanicals, brought together in a single caffeine-free infusion. Warm and earthy, with the brightness of ginger leading and a deep, rooty finish. Soil Association certified and packaged in a biodegradable PLA temple with a fully kerbside-recyclable 100% paper pouch. Available in four sizes from 15 to 200 temples.
About the blend
Organic ginger root (Zingiber officinale) brings warmth and brightness to the cup — the note you notice first. Its characteristic heat and clean, slightly citrus-adjacent freshness have made it a central ingredient in Ayurvedic cooking and herbal practice for thousands of years, and it drives the flavour character of this blend.
Organic turmeric root (Curcuma longa) gives the tea its colour — a deep amber-gold — and adds an earthy, mildly bitter warmth that rounds out the ginger’s brightness. Long cultivated across India and Southeast Asia, turmeric is one of the most widely used roots in the Ayurvedic tradition and in everyday South Asian cooking.
Organic ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera) — also known as Winter Cherry or Indian Ginseng — provides depth and a gentle earthiness that anchors the blend. Its flavour is mild and slightly bitter, mellowing with heat and contributing a grounding quality that distinguishes this from a simple ginger or turmeric tea. One of Ayurveda’s most widely used botanicals, with a history of use stretching back thousands of years.
This is a blend we developed ourselves — not a stock formula. The three roots are balanced to produce a cup that is warming, grounding, and genuinely pleasant to drink on its own, with honey, or with a little plant milk.
Which size is right for you?
One temple brews one generous mug. Available in four sizes to suit occasional and daily drinkers alike.
| Size | Best for |
|---|---|
| 15 temples | Trying it for the first time |
| 50 temples | One cup a day for 7 weeks |
| 100 temples | Regular drinkers — best everyday value |
| 200 temples | Households or committed daily drinkers |
Why choose ours?
- Our own bespoke blend — we developed this recipe ourselves. Not a generic combination, and not available from any other brand.
- Soil Association certified organic — all three roots are independently certified to UK organic standards at every stage.
- Caffeine-free — a natural root infusion with no tea leaves and no added caffeine. Suitable at any time of day.
- Plastic-free packaging — temples use biodegradable PLA mesh (general waste) inside a 100% paper pouch that is fully kerbside recyclable.
- Made in Leicestershire — blended, filled, and packed entirely in-house by our small family team. Not outsourced.
How to brew
Place one temple in a mug and pour over freshly boiled water (100°C). Steep for 5–7 minutes — slightly longer than most herbal teas, to draw out the depth of turmeric and ashwagandha root. Remove the temple and drink as is, or add a little honey and a splash of warm oat or almond milk, which complements the earthy character particularly well. The temple can be resteeped once for a lighter second cup.
Ingredients
Organic ginger root (Zingiber officinale), organic turmeric root (Curcuma longa), organic ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera). Certified organic by the Soil Association.
Frequently asked questions
Is this tea caffeine-free?
Yes — completely caffeine-free. It contains no tea leaves and no added caffeine. All three ingredients are herbal roots with no naturally occurring caffeine.
What does Ayurvedic Roots Tea taste like?
Warm, earthy, and gently spiced. The ginger comes through first — bright and a little fiery — followed by the deeper warmth of turmeric, with ashwagandha providing a mild, rooty base note. More savoury than most herbal teas, and closer in character to a golden milk or turmeric latte than a fruity infusion. A little honey and plant milk round it into something genuinely comforting.
Are the tea bag temples plastic-free?
Yes. Our temples use PLA mesh — a plant-derived, plastic-free material that is biodegradable and can go in your general waste bin. The outer pouch is 100% paper and fully kerbside recyclable.
Does ashwagandha tea have caffeine?
No. Ashwagandha root contains no caffeine. Neither do ginger or turmeric. This is a wholly caffeine-free blend, suitable any time of day including in the evening.
What is the difference between this tea and the ashwagandha capsules or powder?
The tea contains ashwagandha as one of three roots in a flavoured blend — it is an enjoyable daily drink. The capsules and powder are single-ingredient ashwagandha products for those who want a precise, measured dose of the root on its own. See our Organic Ashwagandha Capsules 500mg and Organic Ashwagandha Root Powder for those formats.
Where is this tea made?
This is our own bespoke recipe, blended, filled, and packed entirely in-house at our facility in Leicestershire. The individual roots are sourced from their native growing regions — ginger and turmeric from India and Southeast Asia, ashwagandha from India.
How should I store it?
Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong aromas. Once opened, fold the pouch closed or transfer the temples to an airtight tin. The tea will hold its flavour for at least 18 months from the date of production.
