Organic Ashwagandha Capsules 500mg — Pure Root Powder, Nothing Else

Each capsule contains 500mg of organic ashwagandha root powder (Withania somnifera) — and nothing else. No fillers, no binders, no magnesium stearate. Just pure, dried, ground root from India, encapsulated in a vegan HPMC shell and packed by our small family team in Leicestershire. Soil Association certified and available in three sizes, each in a choice of reusable aluminium tin or 100% paper refill pouch. One of our most consistent sellers, and among the purest ashwagandha capsules you will find.

Which size is right for you?

Each size is designed as a one-month supply at the standard dose. Take 2–4 capsules per day with water, ideally with food.

Size Daily dose Ashwagandha per day Supply
60 capsules 2 per day 1,000mg 30 days
90 capsules 3 per day 1,500mg 30 days
120 capsules 4 per day 2,000mg 30 days

The 120-capsule size lasts up to 60 days at 2 capsules per day — the best-value option for long-term daily use.

What’s inside — and what isn’t

Most ashwagandha capsules on the market contain a standardised extract alongside at least one excipient — a filler, binder, or flowing agent that helps manufacture at scale. Ours contain one ingredient: pure organic ashwagandha root powder. No magnesium stearate. No silicon dioxide. No fillers of any kind.

  • Organic ashwagandha root powder (Withania somnifera) — 500mg per capsule

Capsule shell: Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) — plant cellulose, vegan. Never gelatine.

Free from: magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, calcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, and all other fillers, binders, flowing agents, and excipients.

Why ashwagandha root?

Withania somnifera — known as ashwagandha, Winter Cherry, or Indian Ginseng — is a small plant native to the drier regions of India. Its roots have been a central ingredient in Ayurvedic practice for thousands of years, making it one of the most widely used botanicals in Indian herbal tradition. Our capsules contain the whole root in its most straightforward form: dried, ground, and encapsulated. No extraction, no concentration, no withanolide standardisation — just the root as it has traditionally been used.

A note on terminology: many buyers search for “ashwagandha tablets.” These are capsules — a two-piece plant-based shell filled with powder. They contain exactly the same pure root powder as our loose powder product, in a convenient pre-measured daily dose. There is no pressed tablet in this range.

Why choose ours?

  • Pure root powder — not an extract — whole root in its traditional form, with no concentration or withanolide standardisation. Single ingredient, nothing added.
  • Soil Association certified organic — independently verified at every stage, from Indian field to Leicestershire pack.
  • No fillers of any kind — 500mg of ashwagandha root per capsule, and nothing else. This is not common in the category.
  • Vegan HPMC capsule shell — plant cellulose, never gelatine. Certified vegan and vegetarian.
  • Made in Leicestershire — filled in-house by our small family team in small batches. Not outsourced to a contract manufacturer.
  • Plastic-free packaging — choose a reusable aluminium tin or a 100% paper refill pouch. Both are kerbside recyclable.

How to take them

Take up to 4 capsules per day with water, ideally with food. The dose can be split — for example, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening — or taken together. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake of 4 capsules (2,000mg).

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or have an existing health condition, consult your GP before use.

Frequently asked questions

Is ashwagandha safe?

Ashwagandha has been used in Ayurvedic tradition for centuries and is widely consumed as a food supplement. Our capsules are Soil Association certified organic, contain no additives, and are manufactured in a SALSA-approved facility in Leicestershire. As with any supplement, consult your GP before use — particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication, or have an existing health condition.

How much ashwagandha is in each capsule?

500mg of pure organic ashwagandha root powder per capsule. At the maximum daily dose of 4 capsules, that is 2,000mg (2g) per day. At 2 capsules per day, it is 1,000mg (1g). These are whole root powder figures — not equivalent to a concentrated extract on a milligram-for-milligram basis.

What is the difference between 500mg and 600mg ashwagandha capsules?

Products sold as 600mg typically use a concentrated root extract standardised to a defined withanolide percentage — allowing a smaller volume to contain a higher level of specific compounds. Our 500mg capsules contain whole root powder: dried, ground root with no concentration or extraction. These are different products suited to different approaches. If you want a standardised extract, ours is not that. If you want whole root in its traditional form, 500mg per capsule at 2–4 daily is a straightforward, well-established dose.

Which size should I buy?

The 60-capsule size gives you a comfortable first month at 2 capsules per day without over-committing. If you are already confident with ashwagandha and use it daily, the 120-capsule size is the best value — it lasts up to two months at 2 capsules per day.

Are these capsules vegan?

Yes. The capsule shell is HPMC — hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, a plant-derived cellulose. We never use gelatine. The ashwagandha root powder inside is entirely plant-derived.

What is the difference between the tin and the pouch?

The contents are identical. The reusable aluminium tin is designed to be kept — when you reorder, choose the 100% paper refill pouch to decant into it. Both packaging formats are kerbside recyclable.

Where are these capsules made?

The ashwagandha root is grown in India. Every capsule is filled, sealed, and packed in-house at our facility in Leicestershire. We do not use a contract manufacturer.

How should I store them?

Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the tin or pouch is sealed between uses. Properly stored, the capsules will keep their quality for at least 24 months from the date of manufacture.
