Organic Hibiscus & Mint Tea Bags — Egyptian Hibiscus, Rubbed Peppermint, Stevia
Our Organic Hibiscus & Mint Tea Bags bring together three certified organic ingredients: Egyptian Hibiscus sabdariffa, Egyptian peppermint leaf — rubbed rather than cut to release its essential oils — and a small amount of organic stevia leaf for a natural, balanced sweetness. The result is a vivid, tart, gently cooling infusion that works beautifully hot, but is perhaps at its very best poured over ice. Soil Association certified, naturally caffeine-free, and blended by our small family team in Leicestershire.
About the blend
Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa). Sourced from Egypt — the same certified organic flowers we use in our pure hibiscus tea bags and loose tea. Egyptian growing conditions produce an unusually intense concentration of the deep red calyces that give hibiscus its vivid colour and its signature tart, cranberry-like flavour.
Peppermint (Mentha × piperita). Also sourced from Egypt, one of the world’s finest peppermint origins. Crucially, our peppermint is rubbed rather than cut. Rubbing the dried leaves bruises the cellular structure of the herb, releasing the natural essential oils before the bag is even brewed — delivering a fuller, more aromatic peppermint character than cut peppermint can offer. The cooling menthol note balances the heat of the hibiscus and gives the tea its characteristic refreshing finish.
Stevia leaf (Stevia rebaudiana). We know stevia is a divisive ingredient — particularly in the hibiscus tea world, where many drinkers prefer their karkade sharp and unsweetened. We added it deliberately. After extensive blending, we found that a small amount of organic stevia leaf perfectly balances the tartness of the hibiscus without masking the flavour or adding any sugar. The result is a tea that is pleasant to drink without honey or any additional sweetener. If you prefer your hibiscus completely unsweetened, our pure Organic Hibiscus Tea Bags are what you’re looking for.

Why choose ours?
- Egyptian hibiscus and Egyptian peppermint. Both sourced from Egypt — one of the world’s finest origins for both botanicals.
- Rubbed peppermint, not cut. Rubbing the dried leaves releases the essential oils before brewing, producing a fuller, more aromatic cup than standard cut peppermint.
- Naturally sweetened with organic stevia. No sugar, no artificial sweeteners — just a small amount of organic stevia leaf that balances the hibiscus tartness cleanly.
- Soil Association certified organic. Every batch independently audited to the UK’s most rigorous organic standard.
- Naturally caffeine-free. Both hibiscus and peppermint are naturally caffeine-free — suitable any time of day, including evenings.
- Plastic-free temples and packaging. PLA biodegradable filter mesh; 100% paper outer pouch with no foil lining. Kerbside recyclable.
- Packed in the UK by our small family team. Blended and pouched in Leicestershire in a SALSA-approved facility.
- Vegan and vegetarian. No animal-derived ingredients anywhere in the product or packaging.
How to brew — hot or iced
Hot: Place one temple bag in a mug and pour over freshly boiled water. Steep for 5–7 minutes. The hibiscus gives the tea its colour and tartness; the peppermint and stevia come through as it cools slightly. There is no need to add honey — the stevia provides a gentle natural sweetness.
Iced (particularly good — and great for children): Always start with freshly boiled water. Place one or two temple bags in a heatproof jug and pour over boiling water. Steep for 5–7 minutes, then pour directly over a glass packed with ice. The rapid chilling locks in the vivid colour and produces a bright, slightly sweet, gently minty drink with no caffeine and no sugar. Children love the colour and the mild sweetness — it makes an excellent alternative to squash or juice. Do not simply use cold water — brewing with boiling water first is essential for both safety and flavour.
Each temple bag can be resteeped once for a lighter second cup.
Ingredients
Organic Hibiscus Flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa), Organic Peppermint (Mentha × piperita), Organic Stevia Leaf (Stevia rebaudiana)
Soil Association Organic certified. Naturally caffeine-free. No added sugar.
Allergen information: May contain traces of nuts. Hibiscus sabdariffa is commonly grown in close proximity to peanut crops — in some growing regions the two plants share the same fields or rotate on the same land — which means trace nut cross-contamination in the raw material cannot be fully excluded.

Frequently asked questions
Why is there stevia in a hibiscus tea?
We added it deliberately after extensive blending — and we know it divides opinion. Pure hibiscus tea is intensely tart, and many people reach for honey or sugar when drinking it. We found that a small amount of organic stevia leaf balances that tartness naturally, without adding sugar and without masking the hibiscus character. If you prefer your hibiscus completely unsweetened and unblended, our pure Organic Hibiscus Tea Bags are the right choice.
What is rubbed peppermint and why does it matter?
Rubbing dried peppermint leaves bruises their cellular structure, releasing the natural essential oils before the bag is brewed. Standard cut peppermint is processed more quickly but retains less of the volatile aromatic oils that give peppermint its cooling menthol character. Rubbed peppermint produces a noticeably more aromatic, fuller cup — you can often smell the difference before you even steep it.
Is this a good drink for children?
Yes — it is one of the best naturally caffeine-free, no-added-sugar iced drinks you can make for children. The hibiscus gives it a vivid colour that children love, the stevia provides a mild natural sweetness, and the peppermint adds a light freshness. Always brew with freshly boiled water first, then pour over ice — never use cold water directly.
Is this tea caffeine-free?
Yes. Both hibiscus and peppermint are naturally caffeine-free botanicals. This blend contains no caffeine and is suitable at any time of day, including for children and in the evening.
Does the stevia make it very sweet?
No. The stevia is used in a small amount specifically to balance the tartness of the hibiscus rather than to make the tea sweet in the way a sugared drink would be. The result is a rounded, pleasant cup — tart but not sharp, with a clean finish. Most people find no need to add any additional sweetener.
How do I make the best iced version?
Always start with freshly boiled water — pour boiling water over one or two temple bags in a heatproof jug and steep for 5–7 minutes. Then pour directly over a glass packed with ice. The rapid chilling locks in the colour and flavour. Do not skip the boiling step by using cold water; always brew hot first.
Are the temple bags plastic-free?
Yes. The temple bags use a PLA (polylactic acid) biodegradable filter mesh. The outer pouch is 100% paper with no foil lining and no plastic film. Kerbside recyclable. No plastic anywhere in the product or packaging.
Where is this tea made?
Both the hibiscus and peppermint are sourced from Egypt. The blend is then packed into temple bags and pouched by our small family team in Leicestershire, UK.
How should I store it?
Keep in the sealed paper pouch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong smells. Once opened, fold the top of the pouch down firmly between uses.
