It’s Raining Goji Berries, But It’s Not A New Story.

Goji berries are not a discovery. Tibetans have consumed them for centuries. A friend asked me the other day why all he is hearing about at the moment is goji berries. It got me thinking about when did the trend start.

Goji Berries And The News

After looking back through a few old articles, I came across this very positive one from the BBC, the Beeb started running goji berry stories back in 2006, but the berry has been used by celebrities and health-conscious people in the West long before this.

Back in 2006, the BBC reported that goji berries pack weight for weight:

  • more vitamin C than oranges
  • more beta-carotene than carrots
  • more iron than steak

We now know this and much more to be true.

They also report that they were used by celebrities Madonna, Liz Hurley and Mischa Barton back then. If only stars lasted as well as the berries have.

Goji berries have been in the public mainstream in the West for well over ten years, so eating goji berries can hardly be described as a flash-in-the-pan trend.

Are Goji Berries the Ultimate Superfood?

However, many super foods seem to be a ‘flash in the pan trend for most people. One portion of flax seed or goji berries isn’t going to fend off diseases and protect you and your family for life. The goodness that they provide our bodies with is goodness that our bodies use up very quickly. Therefore, we should incorporate super foods into our daily or weekly eating habits.

By regularly consuming certain super foods, we reduce the risk of our bodies contracting some severe illnesses, and at the same time, improve our libido and feel good. In addition, they benefit from better skin and more balanced moods, but goji berries must regularly be eaten to maintain these benefits.

Poor nutrition and diet are not fixable with a one-time dose of anything, unlike a headache can be. Developing better nutritional habits takes time and effort, but if you ask anyone who does maintain a balanced, nutritious diet, they will tell you that it is worth it.

Feeling better and being healthier is a life choice, as is working out at the gym and exercising regularly. So make an effort to develop good habits and become healthier. It’s a choice we can all make. It doesn’t have to be painful to be healthy.
