How to Use Nano Iron – Everything You Need to Know

Updated:

Nano Iron works differently from standard iron supplements — and because of that, how you take it matters. This guide covers everything you need to know: the method, the timing, the doses, and the reasons behind each step.

Before You Take It: The Empty Stomach Rule

Nano Iron should always be taken on an empty stomach, with no food or drink consumed for at least 30 minutes before or after taking it.

The reason is specific to how nano iron is absorbed. The iron particles are taken up through the soft tissue of the mouth — the oral mucosa, which includes the mucous membrane lining of the gums, cheeks, and lips. Food and drink physically occupy these soft tissue surfaces and reduce the contact area available for absorption. Waiting 30 minutes on either side keeps those surfaces clear.

How to Take It: The Method

Measure your daily amount directly from the bottle. Hold the liquid in your mouth and swish it gently around for a minimum of 30 seconds, up to one minute, before swallowing. This is not just a formality — the swishing motion brings the nanoparticles into contact with the soft tissue surfaces through which they are absorbed.

A few important practical points:

  • Use glass, not plastic. If you are measuring into a vessel before taking it, use a glass — not a plastic cup or metal container. Nanoparticles can interact with plastic and metal surfaces in ways that may affect the suspension.
  • Do not stir. If you are taking more than one nano mineral product and wish to combine them, decant both into a glass and consume immediately. Do not stir — stirring can cause the particles to coalesce.
  • Shake the bottle gently before use to ensure the particles are evenly distributed throughout the liquid.
  • Take nano minerals individually where possible. If taking multiple nano mineral products, separate them rather than mixing in the bottle.

How Much to Take

Always follow the specific guidance of your healthcare professional if they have recommended a particular iron intake. The figures below are the manufacturer's guidelines.

Adults

  • Standard daily intake: 30–60 ml per day on an empty stomach.
  • Do not exceed 90 ml per day without healthcare professional guidance.
  • In severe cases, 90–120 ml per day may be taken under direct supervision of a healthcare professional.

Translating a Healthcare Professional's Recommendation

Because Nano Iron is absorbed differently from compound iron supplements, the dose that equates to a GP's recommendation is not a straightforward conversion. As a guide:

  • If recommended 15 mg of a regular iron supplement: approximately 30–35 ml of Nano Iron on an empty stomach.
  • If recommended 20–30 mg of a regular iron supplement: approximately 30–35 ml of Nano Iron twice a day on an empty stomach.

Always confirm with your healthcare professional if you are unsure.

Children

  • 0–2 years: 5 ml daily (approximately 1 teaspoon)
  • 2–6 years: 10–15 ml daily (1–2 teaspoons)
  • 6–12 years: 20 ml daily (2–3 teaspoons)

Children's intake should always be guided by a healthcare professional.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Nano Iron can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with any supplement during pregnancy, always follow the advice of your healthcare professional, particularly if you have been given a specific iron recommendation.

What to Separate It From

Certain foods and drinks can reduce iron absorption. As a general guideline, avoid consuming the following within 30 minutes of taking Nano Iron:

  • Tea and coffee (polyphenols can interfere with iron uptake)
  • Dairy products
  • Foods high in phytates such as cereals and wholegrains

If you are taking other mineral supplements such as zinc, copper, or calcium, separate these from Nano Iron by at least one to two hours.

Understanding the Iron Content

Each 30 ml of Nano Iron contains approximately 0.75–0.9 mg of elemental iron. The label states that 30 ml is equal to 14 mg iron bisglycinate (100% RI) — this is a comparative reference figure using iron bisglycinate as a standard for Reference Intake calculations, not the physical quantity of iron in the liquid. Storage

  • Store upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze.
  • Keep the bottle sealed when not in use.
  • Best before: see the side of the bottle.
  • Keep out of reach of small children.

When the bottle is empty, it can be reused. The dark violet Miron glass is worth keeping — it is biophotonic glass that protects contents from light degradation, making it useful for storing filtered water, seeds, or oils.
