    • Grown, Dried and Stone Ground in Japan

Our ceremonial grade organic matcha green tea was grown and stone ground in Kyoto Japan, the spiritual home of matcha tea.

We selected this single cultivar matcha from the Shimizu Tani garden in Kyoto because it's an excellent example of everything good matcha green tea has to offer; a vivid deep green colouration and fresh, clean aroma lead to its intense fresh, crisp, young green complete flavour.

Shimizu Tani garden is located in the Uji city prefecture Kyoto and widely regarded as one of the top two matcha producing regions of the world, the other being Nishio City prefecture in Aishi.

Shimizu Tani translated means Clear Water Ravine, the plantation has been in the same family for seven generations dating back to the 17th century and was the very first to convert to organic growing in 1980, the plantation is considered small 30 acres in size.

Drink as, and when desired, some caution should be taken as matcha has a higher caffeine content than regular green tea.

How To Prepare The Perfect Cup of Match Green tea

To prepare your matcha tea, combine water and 1g of matcha powder in a bowl and whisk until the paste has a uniform consistency, once this is achieved add 250ml of 70˚C to 80˚C spring water and vigorously whisk in a 'W' configuration until the tea becomes frothy and well mixed. To make a matcha latte add hot milk instead of water.

    Really great quality.

I've tried various matcha green tea's from various places, and this stuff is definitely good quality. Not only can you tell by looking at it (good quality matcha is a vibrant green colour, less good matcha has a more dull yellowy tinge to it) but the taste is great as well.

    Matcha Tea

To be honest I am a little disappointed. Having tried quite a variety of Matcha teas I find this one to have a very earthy taste. I was also surprised at the dull yellowish colour. I was expecting a much more vibrant green in line with the better quality ones being brighter green. I checked the bb date as I thought it might be old! Happy with other products I have bought but I won’t be buying this again.,

Great taste and easy to make!

This matcha powder is easy to make and it tastes great! The resealable packaging is really helpful because it makes storing the matcha less messy and helps to keep it dry and fresh. The instructions on the back of the packaging were highly appreciated and simple to follow. Highly recommended!

Had never tried this tea before, but wanted to as I had read about how good it is for you and it's health benefits. The tea is very refreshing and pleasant tasting.
