Organic Turmeric Tea Recipe - Quick, Simple & Delicious!
Updated:
Turmeric tea — also known as golden milk or turmeric milk — has been a traditional drink in India for centuries, combining turmeric with warm milk and warming spices. It is naturally golden in colour from the turmeric, gently spiced, and works well as an evening drink or a warming alternative to regular tea or coffee. This recipe takes about ten minutes and uses our organic turmeric tea bags for convenience.
Ingredients (serves 2)
- 3 cups semi-skimmed milk (or unsweetened almond, oat or coconut milk)
- 2 organic turmeric tea bags
- 1 organic herbal chai tea bag
- 1 tsp honey
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Method
Warm the milk in a small saucepan over a medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes — do not bring it to a boil.
Add the turmeric and chai tea bags to the warm milk and allow them to infuse for 5 to 8 minutes. For a stronger flavour, leave for up to 10 minutes.
Remove the tea bags and gently stir in the honey until fully dissolved.
Pour into cups and finish with a pinch of cinnamon if you like.
Variations
For a sharper, more aromatic version, add a slice of fresh ginger to the milk alongside the tea bags, or use our organic ginger and turmeric tea bags in place of the turmeric bags. The ginger adds a bright, warming note that balances the earthiness of the turmeric well.
Both turmeric and ginger teas are part of our organic herbal tea range. For a comparison of the two roots — flavour, origin and how to use each — our turmeric vs ginger guide covers the detail. All products are Soil Association certified organic.
