It is widely accepted that in early times human beings were hunter-gatherers; and as such, it also widely recognised that our diets were made up of a much higher percentage of fruit, nuts and berries (super foods) than it was meats. Meat is a lot harder to acquire than fruit & nuts.
So in essence, as our digestive system is more at home digesting and breaking down fruits and nuts than it is processing meats. But as humans have mastered technology it has made hunting much easier, therefore meat has gradually taken over our diets.

Most fruit and nut super foods contain high concentrations of antioxidants; these antioxidants are very effective at killing 'free radicals', when 'free radicals' build up in the body they can start to overwhelm the immune system, which in turn leads to illness and depression. The lowering of toxins and a reduction in the numbers of 'free radicals', supports the immune system and helps the body focus on cell regeneration and the transportation of oxygen around the body; leading to an overall sense of well-being.
