Our Hawaiian Spirulina Powder has been grown in the pristine environment of Kona, Hawaii; this is important as micro-algae can absorb contaminants from the environment. Harvested from tanks located in a biosecure zone, there is zero chance of contamination with genetically modified organisms (GMO's). Grown in outdoor tanks harnessing the year-round warm temperatures and using water that's been filtered by lava rock in Hawaii's Aquifers, Kona is the perfect place to grow Spirulina.
Using Ocean Chill Drying eliminates oxidation and damage to carotenoids, enzymes and other fragile nutrients and preserve phytonutrients. Deep ocean water is pumped from 2000 feet below sea level to provide de-humidification.
Spirulina contains roughly 60% digestible proteins and also every essential amino acid, it also contains more carotenoids than any other single whole food, and it's a rich source of Vitamins A, K, B12 and minerals iron, manganese and chromium. Spirulina is also the best single source of gamma-linoleic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid that plays a critical role in normal growth and development as well as being rich in chlorophyll, trace elements, vitamins, minerals and enzymes.
Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) is contained in Spirulina; this is an enzyme that is a potent antioxidant.
