Our Fleabane Tea – or Indian Pluchea tea – is one of the western world’s better-kept secrets, yet is well-known in its native land as a powerful antioxidant. This unique tea is notoriously hard to find outside of specialist stores, mainly because so few are aware of its naturally healing properties. Taken from the flowers of the Indian Camphorweed, this tea is not only excellent for your body, but provides a pleasant, warming drink to enjoy every day.
Indian Camphorweed originally only grew in parts of Asia and Australia, where it has been used for centuries as a beneficial beverage to help boost immunity and fight against common illnesses. However, it was later introduced into the Pacific Islands where it swiftly began to be valued for its unique properties. The plant even provides a natural antidote for certain snake-bites.
This tea has a gentle, somewhat bitter flavour with subtle floral undertones. For extra sweetness simply stir in a spoonful of honey or sugar. It also mixes well with other forms of herbal tea.
To make the most of your health-boosting tea, simply add hot water and allow the tea to brew for approximately 2-4 minutes, depending on how strong you’d like it. Then, find a relaxing spot and sip gently, enjoying the natural flavours and aromas. Please note, pregnant and nursing women should seek advice from a GP before consuming.
The Mexican Fleabane (E. karvinskianus) and common fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica) are very close relatives of the Indian Fleabane (Pluchea Indica (Linn.) Less.) we have used to make our Ayurvedic Fleabane Tea. All varieties of fleabane, or daisy as its affectionately known, contain certain levels of constituents that can heal the body, but it is the Indian Marsh Fleabane that is highly revered in Ayurvedic medicine. Fleabane tea is natural diuretic.
